MSM Appoints Gianluca Tosini as New Chief Scientific Research Officer
NOVEMBER 2, 2018 - Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) recently named Gianluca Tosini, Ph.D., as Chief Scientific Research Officer. Tosini is also the Chair and Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. He has been a member of the MSM Neuroscience Institute since 1998 and most recently served as the Institute's Acting Director. Tosini is also Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine.

Morehouse School of Medicine and Carter Celebrate Lee Street Campus Groundbreaking
OCTOBER 26, 2018 - Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) and Carter officially broke ground today on the first phase of a new 7.2-acre mixed-use development. The development will include the first-ever graduate student housing units on the MSM campus, comprising 187 units through a combination of studio, one- and two-bedroom offerings. This mixed-use development will also include a 25,000-square-foot ambulatory health facility, a 9,000-square-foot fitness/wellness center, 2,500 square feet of retail space and a four-level parking deck at the corner of Lee Street and Westview Drive.

PA Program Gains Provisional Accreditation, Can Enroll Students
OCTOBER 22, 2018 - Morehouse School of Medicine's new Physician Assistant Studies program passed a significant milestone enroute to its June 2019 debut with news that the program has been granted provisional accreditation status by the commission that oversees PA education in the United States.

Veena Rao Awarded Breast Cancer Research Award
OCTOBER 17, 2018 - Veena N. Rao, Ph.D., Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Co-Director of the Cancer Biology Program at Morehouse School of Medicine is one of three breast cancer researchers from three different universities in Georgia awarded $50,000 thanks to funding from It's The Journey and The Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia CORE).

AJC: Trend of Fewer Black Male Doctors Has Broader Public Health Impact
OCTOBER 15, 2018 - An article recently published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says the decreasing number of Black male doctors has an effect on public health. Black male doctors tend to have a larger impact in communities where medical services are limited.

OCTOBER 12, 2018 - The March of Dimes recognized Morehouse School of Medicine President and Dean Valerie Montgomery Rice, M.D. on Thursday, October 11. She received their Lifetime Achievement Award for her continued work in women's health and her dedication to the March of Dimes.
